Crescendo Magazine: Now Seeking Submissions

Crescendo Magazine is an online publisher of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and inter-genre writing. They aim to create a community for authors, both emerging and established, especially those who don’t fit within traditional publishing markets. Crescendo Magazine wants to be, “a literary magazine that amplifies unique voices.”

The magazine was founded in 2011 by members of a New York City writers circle. It’s been on hiatus since its first edition, and now it’s relaunching, eleven years later, as a new journal. Now through November 15 they’re seeking submissions for their first re-launch issue, scheduled for publication in Fall/Winter 2022.

The theme of their upcoming edition is “Silence and Sound.” Submissions for this issue should explore this theme.

Poets may submit up to five poems. Authors of prose (fiction, creative nonfiction, and inter-genre prose) may submit up 6,000 words. They also accept excerpts from longer works, such novels, and translations. Crescendo Magazine hopes to support emerging authors by offering editorial help to those whose writing is accepted.

Crescendo Magazine seeks submissions from authors around the world. They do, however, “have a soft spot” for writers living or working in New York City, and authors who feel an affinity with the city and surrounding communities.

Crescendo Magazine accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere.

Crescendo Magazine only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
