These magazines are open for submissions in May, and accept fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and translations. They’re a mix of literary and genre markets.


AGNI
This respected literary journal accepts fiction, poetry, nonfiction, translations, and essays. All work will be considered for print and online publishing.
Deadline: 31 May 2020
Length: No word limit for prose; up to five poems
Pay: $10/page of prose, $20/page of poetry, up to $150

One Story
They publish literary fiction, which can be of any style and on any subject. Their guidelines say, “We are looking for stories that leave readers feeling satisfied and are strong enough to stand alone.” Regarding reprints, if a story has been published in print (not online) outside of North America, it will be considered. They publish one story per issue, and also accept translations.

Escape Artists: Escape Pod
This is an online and audio science fiction magazine. Their guidelines say, “We are fairly flexible on what counts as science (we’ll delve into superheroes or steampunk on occasion) and are interested in exploring the range of the genre. We want stories that center on science, technology, future projections, and/or alternate history, and how any or all of these things intersect with people.” They also accept reprints. (An associated market, PseudoPod, is also open now for reprints only of horror fiction; and yet another associated market, Cast of Wonders, is scheduled to open for themed YA submissions twice in June, and again in July.)

Length: 1,500-6,000 words

Existere
This journal of arts and literature is a publication established and administered by students at York University in Toronto, Canada. They publish poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art from both local and international contributors. Submissions are accepted all year long. The deadline for submissions to be considered for Fall/Winter issues that are published in October is July 1 while the deadline for submissions to be considered for Spring/Summer issues that are published in June is December 31.

Length: Up to 3,500 words

This premier magazine is interested in every kind of mystery story – classic detection, police procedurals, private eye, suspense, courtroom drama, espionage, and even the occasional ghost story, if it involves a crime.
