Chandra Press: Now Accepting Manuscript Queries

Updated January 2022: Because of lack of website updates and book publications they appear to be defunct. Do not submit

Chandra Press is a digital first press that focuses on publishing science fiction. They do offer print versions of all their books. They have a detailed staff page that is very different than most publishers, because the focus feels so much like it’s on the past financial success of the team. They don’t have an about the press page, and they do not have distribution outside of Amazon. They have been around since early 2018, so they are still a young press.

The focus on the main page of their website initially focused on recruiting authors and not readers, which always makes me uncomfortable, but they have since switched tactics and the focus is entirely on selling books..

They also stress the importance of giving back and they say that 5% of its profits go towards non-profits.

Chandra has published thirteen books at the time this updated review was published. Most of them seem to be fairly well reviewed on Amazon. The covers are good but a little familiar (I recognized at least one as the being designed by an artist who contributes to stock image sites).

I have no idea how much they pay in terms of royalties or advances, but they do offer a traditional contract.

They’ve managed to sell a fair number of books according to Amazon, but the number 1 bestselling status of Sword is very tenuous considering it is in the subcategory of the Dr. Who series (which it is not in fact a part of).

53 Magazines Seeking Genre Fiction

Most literary journals are interested in literary work, by which they mean, not genre work (although this is changing a little). The definition of genre is a category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter. However, in the context of writing, genre can refer to…
