Breadcrumbs: Now Seeking Submissions

Breadcrumbs is an innovative online exercise in communal inspiration. They publish poetry, micro fiction, visual art, spoken word, music, and film—all inspired by work previously published in Breadcrumbs.

They encourage readers to “follow the trail,” meaning they want participants to read the magazine and pick up crumbs of inspiration. Then, they want readers to create new writing influenced by the ideas and images they picked up in Breadcrumbs.

Breadcrumbs is published online on a rolling basis in an attractive, minimalist format. Readers can follow the trail of inspiration by clicking on the breadcrumbs (the “…” symbol). This navigates participants to other work inspired by the piece they’re reading.

Breadcrumbs also publishes a podcast featuring work from the magazine.

Now through November 15th, Breadcrumbs is seeking poetry and short fiction. Fiction submissions should not be longer than 2,000 words. All submissions must be inspired by a piece previously published in Breadcrumbs. Submitting authors should note which piece motivated their work.

Breadcrumbs also accepts art, illustrations, and photography year-round.

Breadcrumbs accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They do not accept previously published work.

If you would like to learn more or submit to Breadcrumbs, please visit their website here.
