Beorh Quarterly: Open To Submissions

Beorh Quarterly is an online literary journal that publishes four issues every year. They accept poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction, they are also open to work from any genre, except they are not interested in erotica or romance.  Horror, science fiction, mystery, and most other genres are fine. They are only interested in work that could be rated ‘G’ for general audiences . They started out with a focus on speculative fiction and a lot of the work that they publish still falls within that genre.

Beorh Quarterly stands out for having an exceptionally fast response time to most submissions. They almost always respond within a day. Which means that you know that your work is accepted and rejected as soon as possible. They do accept simultaneous submissions, but I generally advise against simultaneously submitting work to a journal that responds this quickly. Because if the work is accepted you might have to withdraw it from other journals whose answers you have been waiting on for months. They are also open to previously published work as long as you hold the copyrite.

Work must be submitted via email. It should either be attached as an RTF file or it should be cut and pasted into the body of the email. Work must be size 12 Times New Roman font and double spaced. When you submit put the following text and information in the subject line: BEORH QUARTERLY SUB: “title of your story” / your pen name.

If you are interested in submitting please visit their website at http://beststoriesoutthere.wordpress.com/submissions/.

53 Magazines Seeking Genre Fiction

Most literary journals are interested in literary work, by which they mean, not genre work (although this is changing a little). However, in the context of writing, genre can refer to…
