The Medley: Now Seeking Submissions

The Medley is a biannual online journal produced by the students of Hansraj College at the University of Delhi in India. They showcase fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and photography from around the world. You can get a sense of what they publish by reading the journal online.

The Medley has been published twice a year since 2018. Each issue features writing from around twelve to seventeen contributors, often more poetry than prose. Each issue is also themed, and recent themes have included “Debris,” “Mosaic,” “Layers,” and “Fragile”.

Now through April 21 they are seeking submissions for the next issue, themed “Daag.” Daag is a Hindi word that translates literally to “stain” but can have a more complex meaning: “A daag can be a bruise, a memory, a scar, a rebellion, or simply a stain we carry forward.” They invite broad interpretations of the theme: “Write to us about what it means to you.”

Authors of fiction and creative nonfiction may submit up to two pieces, 2,500 words or fewer. Poets may submit up to three poems of any length. Right now, they are only accepting themed submissions.

The Medley also accepts photographs. Photographers may submit up to five themed images.

The Medley accepts submissions both via email and using an online form. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.

The Medley only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
