Gelding Street Press is a part of Moore Street Media, alongside Rockpool Publishing, which we have reviewed here. Even though all their submission guidelines are on the same page, each of the Moore Street Media imprints is distinctly different, which is why we are reviewing them separately. Moore Street Media and all of their imprints are based in Australia.
Gelding Street Press focuses on publishing nonfiction about sports and recreation, as well as true stories. They define true stories by listing the following genres: “Autobiographies, Memoirs, History, Australian Stories, Non-Fiction, True Crime”. This involves a range of titles, including an autobiography called The Naked Witch by Fiona Horne, and The Joy of Living: Postponing the Afterlife by Barry Eaton. To get a good idea of what they publish in terms of this category, please go here.
In terms of sports they say they are looking for “Books, Guides, and Stories for Every Athlete and Fan.” It’s helpful to see what they publish in this category here, but it’s pretty straightforward compared to their true stories categories.
I wasn’t sure what they meant by recreation, and had assumed it had something to do with hiking or amateur sports, before visiting that category. Largely the focus of that category, at least so far, has been guides in regards to alcohol. They have also published a few books about music and about diving and walking. You can see their past publication history in this category here.
They have detailed submission guidelines and requirements here. Please read them carefully before submitting.
