Wild Willow Magazine is an online publication of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, “where word takes roots”. You can read the journal online to get a sense of what they publish.
Formerly The Minison Project, Wild Willow was launched in 2025. Since then they’ve published six issues with themes such as “Mums”, “Wintergreen”, and “Pomegranate”. Each downloadable issue contains writing from around 25 contributors, as well as visual art.
Wild Willow is published four times a year—in January, April, July, and October—and holds four corresponding submission periods. They are open from January 15 through March 15, April 15 through June 15, July 15 through September 15, and October 15 through December 15.
Poets may submit up to three poems. Authors of fiction and creative nonfiction may submit one piece, 2,500 words or fewer, or up to three flashes, 1,000 words or fewer each. Wild Willow accepts all forms and styles of writing.
Right now, Wild Willow’s “Minipress” is also seeking submissions for their “Mini Recipe Book” anthology. They are looking for recipes with corresponding writing or visual art that evoke memories through the senses. Authors may summit up to three recipes, and they will accept submissions until the anthology is full. You can read the complete guidelines here.
Wild Willow accepts submissions online using Google Forms, not via email or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work, and they do not accept writing generated by AI.

Bio: Ella Peary is the pen name of an internationally published author and editor. After earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College, she lived as a monastic for five years. She now lives as a lay monastic, and teaches poetry, flash fiction, and literary publishing at the Authors Publish Writers Workshop. Her writing has been published in Room, The Apple Valley Review, Fourteen Hills, and elsewhere. And a number of full-length manuscripts she’s edited have received major international awards, including The Best Graphic Novel of the Year (Comics Finlandia), The Montaigne Medal, and The National Indie Excellence Awards. She’s also a long-time literary journal reviewer and editor at Authors Publish Magazine.
