Turtle Island Quarterly: Now Seeking Submissions

Turtle Island Quarterly is a literary journal of nonfiction, poetry, interviews, and book reviews, published online since 2013. They are seeking personal essays and other nonfiction pieces that explore topics such as: wilderness, creativity, culture, North American legends, native culture, the environment, health, natural living, gardening, and community. They are also looking for poetry that investigates and deepens our bond with nature. You can read past issues online to get a sense of what they publish.

Turtle Island Quarterly accepts submissions from April 22 (Earth Day) through June 21 (the summer solstice), and from November 2 (the Day of the Dead) through December 21 (the winter solstice). They publish four issues a year, and each edition contains work from around 15 contributors.

Authors may submit up to six pages of work—poetry, nonfiction, book reviews, or interviews. They accept submissions via email, but not by post or through an online submissions manager. Submitting authors should send their work, along with a short bio, in the body of an email. Email attachments are not accepted.

They do not accept previously published poetry; however, they do accept previously published nonfiction. If a nonfiction piece has been published in the past, the submitting author should acknowledge the previous publisher in their submission. Turtle Island welcomes simultaneous submissions.
