After Alexei: Now Seeking Submissions

After Alexei, a brand new online journal of magical realism, contemporary fairy tales, allegorical and symbolic writing, parables, horror, and experimental writing is seeking submissions for their first issue. They are looking for the best fiction and poetry they can find, in flash form.

To get a sense of their style, you can read Issue Zero—their trial edition—online. It’s a thoughtfully designed, PDF mini mag. After Alexei takes aesthetic cues from Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrison, Sylvia Plath, Michael Ondaatje, and Franz Kafka.

Authors of fiction and poetry may submit work, 1,200 words or fewer. After Alexei accepts found poetry but asks that authors identify source materials used in the work.

All submissions should include a brief third-person bio, 100 words or fewer. All submitting authors—both those whose work is published in After Alexei and those whose work is declined—are invited to submit again during the next reading period.

After Alexei accepts submissions via email, but not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.

If you would like to learn more or submit to After Alexei, please visit their website here.
