Announcing The Thirteenth and Fourteenth Recipients of Authors Publish Fund for Literary Journals

In September 2020, we started a fund for literary journals. You can learn all about this fund here. We selected the recipient of the fund using a random number generator. We are announcing the winners of the September and October. We are sorry for the delay in announcements, but a number of the editors we reached out to, did not respond this time around, so it took much longer than usual. Thank you to everyone who has applied. The recipient of the September fund is The Bitchin’ Kitsch, a quarterly art and lit magazine prioritizing traditionally marginalized creators, but open to all. This is how they describe their journal — “We are interested in people being able to decolonize and tell their own stories. The B’K seeks to be a safer and braver space for marginalized creatives to show up authentically and is committed to platform pieces written/created from a place of own voices”. You can visit their website here. The recipient for October is Arlington Literary Journal, an e-journal also known as ArLiJo. They are located in Arlington, Virginia and is sponsored by Gival Press. The intent of ArLiJo is to feature a variety of authors/poets/artists from around the globe whose work provokes readers to contemplate issues, etc. The work chosen promotes understanding and sensitivity across borders, even if initially the work may cause one to take a double-take. Submissions to the journal is currently by invitation only. There are currently 14 literary journals on the application list, so if you run a journal that needs funding, don’t hesitate to apply. If you know of a journal that needs funding, please encourage the editor(s) to apply for the funding.

This small press’s motto is “Publishing the Positive”. They were founded in 2016 by Deb Haggerty, whom you can learn more about here. Elk Lake focuses on publishing positive Christian books. Their website is a little out of date, and poorly organized. Although the main page clearly focuses on highlighting recent books, I didn’t find…
