Black Spot Books: Now Accepting Manuscript Submissions

Updated March 22cd, 2019 – They are currently closed to submissions and that part of the site is currently password protected. We will keep tabs on the site and see if/when they re-open to direct submissions.

Black Spot Books just celebrated its one-year anniversary. They are a new speculative fiction publisher that considers work in a variety of genres including fantasy, dark humor, thrillers, and paranormal. They don’t often publish pure science-fiction or young adult titles, but they are open to reading them.

They are a print and electronic publisher with decent distribution. Their website is focused on recruiting readers, not writers. Most of their covers are good, but they are a little uneven in terms of appearance.

They published eleven books in their first year. You can see them here. That number is unusually high for such a new publisher, but it helps authors get a feel for what they are interested in publishing.

This is a very new publisher and because of that we suggest you approach with caution. Most publishers fail in the first three to five years. We don’t even review publishers that are less than a year old.

They just signed an agreement with Smith Publicity. They have a submission tip section of their website which is interesting and informative.

All of the different imprints have clear focuses, and separate submission guidelines,…

Enchant

Enchant

Enchant is the Romantasy focused imprint of Entwined Publishing, which we have reviewed here. For those unfamiliar with the term, Romantasy is a very popular genre currently, which is focused on a blend of Romance and Fantasy. At my local big box bookstore, Romantasy is currently dominating the fantasy genre by a large margin. They…

Graveside Press

Graveside Press

Graveside Press is the Horror Imprint of Paper Angel Press, which you can learn more about here. It’s important to read that review as well, as it covers more of how the press as a whole operates. They are a relativity new imprint having been founded in October 2024. You can already get a good…
