Burnline: Now Seeking Submissions

Burnline is a brand new digital literary journal that is looking for “any short fiction or art that you’d categorize as “solarpunk.” Themes, characters, and plot could range to just about anything, but we prefer settings where we’re all living in a more sustainable world.” If you aren’t familiar with solarpunk, it is a subgenre of speculative fiction that has an optimistic environmental perspective. Works in this genre portray life on an earth that is changed by the use of sustainable energy. Burnline doesn’t provide its own definition of solarpunk and they do also add that they are open to work “close to it”.

They have yet to publish their first issue, so there are no previous issues to read in order to get a feel for what they publish. They do say that they plan to publish “6-12 pieces of short fiction with an accompanying piece of art in a digital issue” each month.

They aren’t open to submissions from anyone under the age of 18. They will not consider AI-generated work. They do allow simultaneous submissions. They have separate guidelines for art. Please read them carefully before submitting.

Send stories of 500 to 10,000 words. They have their own submission form.
