Dulcet a new journal of accessible, hopeful fiction, poetry, and visual art. They’re looking for writing with “vulnerability and relatability.” Writing that, “takes readers on a journey and leaves them changed for the better.” Writing submitted to Dulcet doesn’t need to have a happy ending, but it should have a sense of meaning and transformational potential.
Right now, Dulcet is seeking submissions for their first publication, themed “Moonglades: a reflective issue”. Submissions are open through August 31, and the issue is scheduled to be published this November.
Poets may submit up to five poems. Dulcet is looking for moving, vivid, accessible poems with deep feeling. Authors of fiction may submit up to 5,000 words. They’re looking for nuanced stories with “uplifting undercurrents.” Submitting authors can expect a response within six weeks.
After this first issue, Dulcet plans to publish quarterly, in February, May, August, and November. The theme of each issue will be announced on their website. The submission window for the February 2025 edition will open this November.
They plan to publish both online and in print. Authors published in Dulcet will be considered for their Creatives Interview Series, and for future Dulcet anthologies.
Dulcet accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published writing or writing generated by AI.
Dulcet only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
