Ghost Light Lit is an online journal of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, short screenplays, monologues, and more. They hope to “publish work that is both experimental and inspiring.” They also aim to showcase underrepresented voices. You can get a sense of what they publish by reading the journal online.
Ghost Light Lit was launched in 2023, and since then they’ve published three issues. The first two issues feature writing from around 35 contributors, while the third issue is smaller with only 17 pieces. Each issue is themed, and past themes have included Grief Machine, Hopeless/Romantic, and Smoke & Mirrors.
Now through June 30, Ghost Light Lit is seeking submissions for their fourth issue, themed “Myths & Monsters.”
Authors of fiction and creative nonfiction may submit up to two pieces, 2,000 words or fewer each. They also accept flash writing. Poets may submit up to two poems of any length. Ghost Light Lit also accepts short screenplays, monologues, and other types of prose that doesn’t fit into these categories.
Ghost Light Lit asks that all submissions include a brief third-person bio, as well as appropriate content warnings.
Ghost Light Lit accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They are not currently a paying publication, but they hope to be able to pay authors in the future. Authors published in Ghost Light Lit should wait two months before reprinting their writing.
Ghost Light Lit only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
