Launched in 2008, Glass is a well-established online journal of poetry. They are looking for thoughtfully-crafted poems: “We are interested in poetry that enacts the artistic and creative precision of glass.”
Glass welcomes all forms and styles of poetry, though they aren’t likely to publish light verse. They appreciate poems with careful attention to language and the music of the line. You can get a sense of what they like by reading the journal online.
Glass publishes one poem each Wednesday (52 poems each year). All poems published in Glass are available to read in their online archives.
Glass has published poems by established voices like Maggie Smith, Rane Arroyo, Saeed Jones, and Hanif Abdurraqib, among others. And poems published in Glass have gone on to appear in Verse Daily and Best of the Net.
Glass also publishes a chapbook series through Glass Poetry Press. They print three to five chapbooks each year, with an initial print run of 200 copies. They read manuscripts (between 15 and 25 pages) during the month of October. You can learn more here.
Glass poetry journal is open to submissions twice a year, in February and August. Poems submitted to the journal outside of these months will not be considered.
For the journal, poets may submit three to five poems of any length, once per submission period. Submitting authors can expect a response within eight to sixteen weeks.
Glass poetry journal accepts submissions using an online form, not via email or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work, and they do not accept poems created by AI.
Glass only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
