Handheld Press: Accepting Submissions

Updated August 8th, 2024: They just announced that they published their last book and are winding down business as a publisher.

Handheld Press is a UK-based press that is currently open to submissions of reprints (books that were traditionally published but have since gone out of print), and works of research-based nonfiction. They plan to reopen to contemporary fiction and personal nonfiction in 2021, so if you are reading this review at a later date, you can check to see if they’ve reopened.

You can get a good feel for what they publish here. They have good distribution in the UK, and their books can be purchased internationally online.

They have specific forms that are PDF formatted to download and fill out, in terms of submitting your research-based book, or reprint. Make sure that the work you are submitting meets all their carefully outlined requirements. Do not submit your work if it does not meet their requirements.

They respond to most submissions within three months and you are welcome to query after that.

To learn more about submitting, visit their website here.
