Heavy Feather Review: Now Seeking Submissions

UPDATED OCT 11th – Their website says they are open to submissions through the 31st of October, but their Submittable is closed. I am going to check back every few days to make see if that changes, in the meantime Poetry and Covid a project funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council is open to submissions. They have a high acceptance rate but have published a large range of poets from all over the world.

Heavy Feather Review is an established print annual, published once a year since 2011. Each print edition features fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, hybrid writing, and comics. They also regularly publish new content online, and they are reading for some themed online issues now. The editors nominate authors published in Heavy Feather Review for major international anthologies and awards.

Now through October 31, Heavy Feather Review is accepting submissions for Volume 11 of their print publication. Before submitting, it’s a good idea to look through their print archives online to get a sense of their distinctive edgy style.

Poets may submit three to six poems. Authors of fiction, creative nonfiction, and hybrid writing may submit work of any length. They welcome translations.

Heavy Feather Review also accepts comics. Comic artists should keep in mind that they can only print black and white images.

Heavy Feather Review accepts submissions online via Submittable, not by email or post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.

If you would like to learn more or submit to Heavy Feather Review, please visit their website here.
