Isthmus: Now Accepting Submissions

Isthmus is an print literary magazine based in Seattle, Washington, publishing poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.They publish a wide range of forms and aesthetics, seeking to allow each author’s authentic voice to resound.They are edited by the former managing editor of Third Coast.

Isthmus publishes ­­­­two annual editions, each with work from about 20 writers. They accept submissions on a rolling basis, and they’re currently accepting general submissions.

Poets may submit ­­­­­­up to five poems. Fiction and nonfiction writers may submit pieces up to 8,000 words. Isthmus also accepts self-contained excerpts from novels and memoirs, and translations in all genres accompanied by the original text.

Isthmus accepts simultaneous submissions, but requires writers to notify them if their work is accepted elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work. Writers may submit work online, but not via post or email. Submitting writers should send only one submission at a time, and should expect a response within two months.
