Lamplit Underground is an online journal of strange beauty. Named after the image of children hiding by lamplight in an underground fort, Lamplit Underground features eerie adventure and unexpected fear. They publish both new and established authors, and they accept all forms and styles of writing—though they prefer eccentricity. You can get a sense of what they like by reading past issues online.
Lamplit Underground is published as a beautifully designed, downloadable journal. They accept submissions on a rolling basis, and right now they’re seeking submissions for their second edition.
They publish poetry, fiction, nonfiction, art, photography, music, and video. They also feature a section of writing about underground travel. They accept short stories, poems, and creative essays of any length, and they also accept flash fiction. All submissions should include a short bio.
Lamplit Underground accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They do not accept previously published work. Although they cannot pay contributors right now, they’d like to in the future.
