Last Girls Club is a brand new online magazine of feminist horror writing. The poetry and fiction they publish is, “fearless, feminine, fairy-tale based, and usually ends with blood.” They accept writing by both male and female identifying authors, but they’re looking for stories and poems with strong, smart female protagonists.
Right now through January 31, Last Girls Club is seeking submissions for their first issue, themed “Strange Births.” Submitting authors can expect a response, along with feedback from the editor, within three days.
Authors of fiction may submit one short story. The editor prefers stories under 3,000 words, but will consider longer work. All submissions should be written in clear, concise English without grammar and spelling errors. Accepted submissions will undergo basic editing.
They appear to only be open to fiction at the moment.
All submissions should include a brief, 100-word bio and publication history, as well as a note explaining why the story or poem should be classified as feminist horror.
Last Girls Club pays authors: $20 per short story and $15 per poem (although they do not appear to be currently open to poetry). They also promote authors on social media.
Last Girls Club accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. Last Girls Club won’t consider work that doesn’t follow their submission guidelines. Please read the guidelines in full before submitting.
