Minding Nature: Now Seeking Submissions

A beautifully executed electronic journal with stunning visuals published by The Center for Humans and Nature, Minding Nature is seeking essays, poems, and artwork exploring ecological conservation. They are looking for creative work that deepens the worldwide discussion of our relationship with our environment and “the whole community of life.” They are especially interested in work that suggests practical ways of improving those relationships. You can read the journal online to get a better idea of what they are looking for.

Minding Nature is published three times a year: winter, spring, and fall. Each edition contains work from around thirty contributors. Right now through February 21st, they are seeking submissions for their spring 2020 issue, themed “ecological citizenship.” You can read more about this theme here.

Minding Nature accepts essays, poems, book reviews, comics, and artwork in a variety of forms and styles. They publish a wide range of authors including thinkers, theologians, poets, artists, activists, naturalists, and scientists. Submitting authors can expect a response within two to three weeks of the submission deadline.

Authors of feature articles may submit essays up to 5,000 words. Authors of “Reviews” and “Reflections” may submit articles, 1,500 to 2,000 words. No specific guidelines are given for poetry; however, they publish around ten poems in each issue.

Minding Nature accepts submissions online, not via email or by post. Authors published in Minding Nature receive an honorarium.
