Mojave River Review is an established e-journal published by Mojave River Press. Now through December 20th, they’re seeking poetry, flash fiction, flash nonfiction, and hybrid writing. They publish a wide variety of forms and styles—traditional, experimental, speculative, weird, and more. And, they’re especially interested in work related to Southwestern and desert culture, as well as work featuring animal lovers or animal rights themes. To get a sense of what they like, you can read Mojave River Review online.
Mojave River Review publishes two annual editions: fall/winter and spring/summer. They released their first issue in 2013, and their latest issue features the work of around 75 authors. Work published in Mojave River Review has appeared in Best New Poets and Best Small Fictions.
Poets may submit three to five poems. Authors of flash fiction or flash nonfiction may submit up to three flashes, 1,000 words or fewer each. Authors of hybrid writing may submit up to three shorts, 500 words or fewer each. Authors should not submit in more than one category. Submitting authors can expect a response within three months.
Mojave River Review accepts submissions online, not via email or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work
Mojave River Review nominates authors published in the journal for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, Best New Poets, Best Small Fictions, PEN America awards, CLMP awards, and others.
