New Mexico Review: Now Seeking Submissions

Published by New Mexico Highlands University since 2015, New Mexico Review is an online journal of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and photography. Like the landscape it hails from, the journal showcases literature that’s as untamable as it is untouched. It boldly pioneers new pathways, while it honors the history indivisible from the land it treads. Great Plains gritty and rugged mountain raw, New Mexico Review hosts gunfights and thunderstorms, horse riders and barreling trains. To get a sense of their style, you can read past issues online.

New Mexico Review is published twice a year online, in May and December. They read submissions from January 15 through March 30, and from September 1 through November 1. Authors published in the journal should wait at least two issues before submitting again. They do not accept submissions from authors affiliated with New Mexico Highlands University.

Authors of fiction or nonfiction may submit pieces 500 to 1,500 words in length. Poets may submit two to four poems. New Mexico Review accepts poems in any language as long as they are accompanied by an English translation. All submissions should include a third-person bio, and authors should indicate if acceptance would constitute a first publication.

New Mexico Review accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.
