Only Poems is a brand-new online poetry journal, edited by two award-winning poets, Shannan Mann and Karan Kapoor.
Most literary journals only publish one, or sometimes two poems by each poet, but Only Poems publishes poems in small collections to give the reader a representation of the range and complexity of each poet featured in the journal. “We believe in publishing poets (as opposed to poems).” They also hope to publish emerging poets alongside established ones, and they pay authors $55 for each collection of poems published in their journal.
Only Poems is open to submissions year-round, and right now they’re seeking submissions for their first issue. Poets may submit up to 10 poems, 10 pages or fewer total. Submitting poets can expect a response relatively quickly, within two weeks. Poets should wait three months between submissions.
Only Poems aims to publish a wide range of forms of styles of poetry: “We love prose poems, traditional forms (ghazals, villanelles, sestinas), love poems, sex poems, and experimental questionnaires, but we are not married to a style or genre.” They also aim to publish poets from around the world.
Only Poems accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw poems published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.
Only Poems only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
