Pine Hills Review: Now Seeking Submissions

Pine Hills Review is an online journal of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and hybrid writing. They like writing that’s fresh, fun, surprising, and compelling—and sometimes even irreverent. They publish all genres, forms, and styles, but they especially love hybrid and experimental work. You can read the journal online to get a sense of their style.

Pine Hills Review started in 2014 at The College of Saint Rose. In 2019 the journal became independent following the closure of the college’s MFA program.

Pine Hills Review publishes new writing every Wednesday on the front page of their website. They also promote the writing on their social media pages, and all past publications are archived and available to read online.

Pine Hills Review accepts submissions each year from September 1 through April 30. Authors should submit no more than twice during this reading period.

Poets may submit up to six poems. Authors of fiction and nonfiction may submit up to 3,000 words. Authors of hybrid and cross-genre work may submit up to 3,000 words, and hybrid submissions can include visual elements. They also accept excerpts from longer works, up to 3,000 words.

Submitting authors can expect a response within four to eight weeks. Accepted writing is usually published within seven to nine months. Authors published in Pine Hills Review have the option to include an audio recording of their writing with the publication. Pine Hills Review also nominates published authors for various “best of” anthologies.

Pine Hills Review accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.

Pine Hills Review only accepts submission that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
