Psychonaut Press: Now Accepting Manuscript Submissions

Update August 2023, they now charge 5 dollars to submit, so they no longer qualify for a listing with us.

Psychonaut Press is currently hosting an open reading period for full-length speculative fiction novels.

We do not review brand new publishers without track records, but even though Psychonaut Press has yet to publish any books, it is a new imprint from the editors of Black Ocean and Not a Cult. Sheree Renée Thomas is the acquiring editor of this project. Their goal is to publish “singular books of fiction and nonfiction from diverse perspectives that inspire, speculate, and illuminate fantastic outcomes for humankind.”

Currently they are only considering speculative fiction written by a “singular author.” Manuscripts should be between 40,000 and 100,000 words. Submitters must be over the age of 18 but can be based anywhere in the world.

Accepted manuscripts will receive full professional edits and be distributed via Consortium.

They have not declared a deadline for submissions on their website. They are accepting submissions through Submittable, so sometimes submission caps come into play, and so they may close to submissions and reopen to them again because of this.

They will consider previously self-published books, but only with conditions in place.

There is no submission fee, but they gently encourage authors to purchase a book from the Chapter House store.

They ask that you submit a PDF version of the manuscript, and a cover letter.
