Rushing Thru the Dark: Now Seeking Drama Submissions

Rushing Thru the Dark, a print and digital annual produced by Choeofpleirn Press, is a journal entirely dedicated to publishing one-act plays and short screenplays. They’re looking for dramas with engaging dialogue and scene descriptions, clear plots, and strong character development.

Choeofpleirn Press also publishes a journal called Coneflower Café for short fiction and a journal called Glacial Hills Review for nonfiction. It’s worth noting that both Coneflower Café and Glacial Hills Review accept longer works of writing: up to 10,000 words for fiction and up to 15,000 words for nonfiction. Choeofpleirn Press also accepts poetry for publication in all of their journals.

For Rushing Thru the Dark, authors may submit one-act plays, 40 pages or fewer, and screenplays, 90 pages or fewer. Authors may submit up to three dramas per year, but each should be sent in a separate submission. The deadline for drama submissions is August 27 (the last Sunday of August annually).

Authors published in Rushing Thru the Dark receive a free digital copy of the journal. Additionally, published authors may choose two theater groups to receive free digital copies of the journal as well.

Rushing Thru the Dark accepts submission via email, not online or by post. Rushing Thru the Dark only accepts submission in English, and they do not accept translations of dramas written by other authors. They also do not accept dramas written by AI.

Rushing Thru the Dark only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
