Their motto is “Stories Rooted In Place • Writing That Moves The World”. This small press based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts focuses on publishing fiction, nonfiction, and poetry with a clear focus on eco-literature, regional writing, and climate-aware storytelling. It is a woman-owned press, and you can see their full masthead by scrolling down here.
They publish approximately 12 books a year, and it is easy to get a feel for what they publish by going here.
Most of their titles are printed on demand, but they do also have distribution, which you can learn more about here.
Sea Crow Press is currently accepting submissions in the following genres: literary fiction, climate fiction (cli-fi), eco-poetry, memoir and creative nonfiction, and place-based essay collections.
They are particularly interested in the following stories especially by underrepresented and emerging authors:
- Coastal and New England stories with literary power
- Eco-lit and cli-fi that blend imagination and emotional depth
- Poetic voices rooted in the natural world or the climate moment
They also stress that “We welcome work that challenges, comforts, or creates wonder — always with heart, and always well-crafted.”
They only respond to submissions they are interested in. If that is a deal breaker for you, please do not submit.
They want submitting authors to share a one-page summary of their manuscript, the first three chapters or up to 25 pages, as well as a brief author bio. They also add that optionally you can “include a short note about your intended audience or comparable titles”.
They ask that all materials should be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced, and submitted as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file.
Submissions should be made via their submission form. To read their full guidelines, go here.
