Shell Education: Accepting Book Proposals

Shell Education is a new imprint of Teacher Created Materials, which also runs Free Spirit Publishing. Shell Education focuses in on publishing “professional resources that build educator instructional capacity, content-area knowledge, and confidence”.

They are a new imprint, and their website is new at the time this review was published. It still includes minor errors, like the text “Optional Subheading” directly on the site.

The work they publish is intended to be read by educators, administrators, counselors, and youth workers. They are looking for the work on the following topics: early childhood education, academic subject-area strategy books, creative teaching strategies, gifted and special education, and a wide range of social and emotional needs.

They are not interested in any material that contains religious or New Age content, or biographies, autobiographies or memoirs. They are also not interested in general self-help books for adults. Even if the content overlaps with what they do publish, your book is not the right fit for them if it also contains the topics mentioned in this paragraph.

They accept submissions via Submittable and the post. They have very specific proposal guidelines that you can read by going here and scrolling down to the subheading How to Submit. You must include a resume while submitting, and they expect all authors to have knowledge and experience directly working in the field that they are writing about.

They are closed to submissions at the time of this update, even though their Submittable remains open.
