Sixth Finch: Now Seeking Submissions

Sixth Finch is a well-established and respected online poetry journal edited by poet Rob MacDonald. Founded in 2008 with the goal of offering readers premier poetry and art for free, Sixth Finch continues to build a reputation for literary excellence.

Simple, stunning design and great poetry have earned the journal many accolades. Work originally published in Sixth Finch has gone on to appear in Best of the Net, The Best American Poetry, The Pushcart Prize, and Bettering American Poetry. To get a sense of their style, you can read the journal online.

Since every edition of Sixth Finch is edited by Rob MacDonald and associate editor Jaime Zuckerman, the aesthetic is consistent from issue to issue. Sixth Finch is published four times a year online, in the winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Right now through April 6th, they’re seeking submissions for their spring 2020 edition. Poets may submit up to eight poems once per reading period. Submitting poets can expect a response within one to three months. Poems published in Sixth Finch reach a wide audience, and all work is archived for access by future readers. Sixth Finch accepts poems using an online submission manager. They do not accept submissions via email or by post.

They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work. If you would like to learn more or submit to Sixth Finch, please visit their website here
