Small Orange: Now Seeking Submissions

A new online poetry journal, Small Orange is seeking aesthetically pleasing, meaningful verse in all forms and styles. Published three times a year in October, January, and April, each issue of Small Orange showcases seven poets and one visual artist, and includes one interview. Small Orange also occasionally considers creative nonfiction for publication. The visual format of Small Orange, which puts authors themselves front and center, highlights Small Orange’s dedication to supporting poets by helping them find an audience. They’ve published two issues so far, which you can read online to get a sense of their style.

Small Orange accepts submissions year-round, and they aim to respond to all submissions within three months. Poets may submit up to five pages of poetry in a single attached document.

Although Small Orange primarily focuses on showcasing poetry, they sometimes consider lyric essays and personal narratives for publication. Authors of creative nonfiction may submit one essay, no more than three double-spaced pages or 850 words.

All submissions should be accompanied by a brief bio, 50 to 60 words. Small Orange accepts submissions via email, but not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.
