Storm Publishing: Accepting Manuscript Submissions

Storm Publishing was founded in 2022 by Oliver Rhodes, the founder of Bookouture. They published their first book in the spring of 2023 and Rhodes brought a number of Bookouture staff members over to Storm with him. Storm Publishing focuses on publishing adult fiction including thrillers and crime fiction, historical fiction, romance, women’s fiction and science fiction and fantasy.

You can read more about the launch of Storm Publishing here. There is a lot of overlap in the two companies, in that both focus on digital- first publishing and have similar approaches to sales.

Both have similar websites also. In general it is a red flag for publishers to focus on recruiting authors over selling books, but that is not true for either Bookouture or Storm, which focus on recruiting authors and not selling books on their website.

Storm also has proven strategies for sales, and while not all of the books they’ve published have sold a lot of copies, many have. Many of the books they’ve published have a minimum of 500 Amazon ratings. Storm Publishing is based in the UK but they target the US and the UK with different marketing.

They have a very detailed FAQ section here.

They do not offer advances but pay 50% royalties off net. They are also notably open to submissions of previously published books as long as you own all the rights.

They have a very detailed what they are looking for page here, and you should spend time on that page before going to their not very detailed submission form here.
