The Broken Teacup is an online literary magazine of fiction, narrative nonfiction, and poetry, “for people who have tea to spill, time to kill, porcelain to shatter.” They accept all forms and styles of writing, and you can read past issues online to get a sense of what they like.
The Broken Teacup is published four times a year, on each solstice and equinox. The journal was founded in 2024, and so far they’ve published four online issues. The number of pieces in each issue varies from around 20 to 40, and the design is thoughtful and minimalistic.
Right now, The Broken Teacup is accepting submissions for their fifth issue. No deadline is given, so if you want to submit it’s a good idea to do so soon.
Poets may submit up to five poems. Authors of fiction and narrative nonfiction may submit up to two pieces, 10,000 words or fewer. The Broken Teacup also accepts flash fiction up to 1,000 words. Authors of flashes may submit up to five.
The Broken Teacup accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They only accept submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online, so please read their guidelines in full before submitting.
