The Orange Rose is an online journal of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, “as varied as the flowers in a garden.” They’re looking for memorable writing with “vibrant imagery and striking characters that make you want to linger in the words just a little bit longer.” You can read the journal online to get a sense of what they publish.
Established in 2025, The Orange Rose publishes four to five issues each year. So far they’ve published six issues, each with writing from around 45-50 contributors, as well as some artwork and photography. The Orange Rose nominates authors published in the journal for awards such as The Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.
The Orange Rose is open submissions now through August 9. Poets may submit up to three poems. Authors of fiction and creative nonfiction may submit one piece, 1,001 to 3,000 words. Authors of flash fiction may submit one flash, 401 to 1,000 words, and authors of micro fiction may submit up to three pieces, 400 words or fewer. Authors should send only one submission in one category at a time, and should wait for a response before submitting again.
The Orange Rose accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.

Bio: Ella Peary is the pen name of an internationally published author and editor. After earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College, she lived as a monastic for five years. She now lives as a lay monastic, and teaches poetry, flash fiction, and literary publishing at the Authors Publish Writers Workshop. Her writing has been published in Room, The Apple Valley Review, Fourteen Hills, and elsewhere. And a number of full-length manuscripts she’s edited have received major international awards, including The Best Graphic Novel of the Year (Comics Finlandia), The Montaigne Medal, and The National Indie Excellence Awards. She’s also a long-time literary journal reviewer and editor at Authors Publish Magazine.
