Untethered: Now Seeking Submissions

A respected print journal based in Toronto, Untethered publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and oddities in-between. They showcase both emerging and established authors from around the world, and they print a wide variety of thoughtfully crafted, intriguing work. You can get a sense of their aesthetic by reading excerpts from the print journal online, or by browsing the Launch Archive where you’ll find videos of authors published in Untethered reading their work.

Since 2014, Untethered has published two high-quality print edition each year. They don’t accept submissions year-round, only during specified windows. Right now they’re open until July 12th.

Poets may submit up to four poems of any length. Authors of fiction or nonfiction may submit any number or pieces totaling 5,000 words or fewer. They also accept hybrid writing and work that doesn’t fit into a specified genre. They do not publish genre fiction, articles, or academic essays.

Untethered accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors immediately withdraw work published elsewhere. Over the past five years, she’s written hundreds of articles for Authors Publish, and she’s also served as a copywriter and copy editor for a wide range of organizations and individuals.
