Rebel Satori Press

Rebel Satori Press was founded in 2002. This is how they describe themselves: “Rebel Satori Press has been committed to releasing cutting edge fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, with an emphasis on amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices and promoting diversity through the press and its imprints Queer Mojo, Queer Space, Arabi Manor, and the Library of Homosexual Congress. We are dedicated to safeguarding the voices of our heritage.” They also say “Rebel Satori Press is more than a publisher. We nurture a vibrant community of LGBTQ+ authors and readers, fostering an inclusive space where diverse voices are celebrated and embraced.”

You can learn more about their four-member team, at the bottom of this page. They have international distribution, which you can learn more about here. Ingram as a whole is not a good distributor (although they have some good imprints), and I’m not familiar with the UK and Australian distributors. They do have an active event page, and seem to be doing real promotion for their authors, which is great.

You can get a good feel for what the publish here. While they have a number of imprints and publish a wide variety of work, they currently only have two open calls for submissions. You can see both on Submittable here. They both close on October 31st.

One of their open calls is for submissions of book-length nonfiction about witchcraft and the occult, which will be published under their Arabi Manor imprint. This is what they have to say about what they are seeking:

“Occult and esoteric philosophies, systems, and traditions

 Witchcraft (contemporary or historical)

 Modern grimoires and magical practices

 Heathenism and Pagan spiritualities

Divination (Tarot, Runes, etc. — books, not decks)”

They add “We are seeking bold, original, and well-researched works that challenge convention and ignite curiosity. Whether your approach is historical, personal, ritual-based, or academic, if it unveils the deeper layers of spiritual experience, we want to hear from you. Queer/LGBTQIA+ voices are strongly encouraged to submit, though all perspectives are welcome.

They ask that interested writers submit a cover letter, project description, and sample chapters via submittable.

They are also reading for their new LGBTQ+ speculative fiction imprint Queer Space. They say “We’re looking for all subgenres of speculative fiction involving LGBTQ+ characters written by LGBTQ+ authors, including but not limited to: sci-fi, interstitial, slipstream, horror, and supernatural fictional manuscripts.” Please respect that they have a limited demographic for this call and only submit if you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

For Queer Space submissions, they will consider book-length works only and are not interested in Erotica. They ask that authors submit a cover letter cover letter that includes a brief description/synopsis and author biography, alongside their work.
