Rathalla Review: Now Seeking Submissions

Rathalla Review is a journal of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, published by Rosemont College. The journal is curated by the students in the college’s MFA in creative writing and MA in publishing programs.

Rathalla Review is looking for writing that is, “vulnerable and honest, universal yet personal, and sharply written.” They showcase both emerging and established authors, and you can read the journal online to get a sense of what they publish.

Rathalla Review was founded in 2012. It’s published twice a year as a digital download, in the fall and spring, and once a year in print, in the spring. Most digital issues feature writing from around 10 to 15 contributors.

Rathalla Review holds two reading periods each year: from August 15 through October 16, and from January 1 through March 15. Submissions received at other times will be considered during the next reading period.

Poets may submit up to three poems, three pages or fewer each. Authors of fiction and narrative nonfiction may submit short stories, essays, and standalone book excerpts, 4,000 words or fewer. Rathalla Review also accepts flash fiction, 999 words or fewer. Authors of flashes may submit up to three. Submitting authors can expect a response within three to six months.

Rathalla Review accepts submissions online using Submittable, not via email or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw writing published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work, including self-published writing and writing published online.

Rathalla Review only accepts submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
