Wizard’s Tower Press specializes in publishing within the science fiction and fantasy genre. They are a small press based in South Wales. They are currently also accepting submissions for an anthology called “They Are Still Here”, which you can learn more about here. It is a paying opportunity.
Outside of the anthology call they are also open to submissions of Fantasy and SF novellas. They call these Wiz Duos and publish two of them together in one volume. This is a clever and interesting way to format and promote novellas that I really like. They have published three volumes so far (which means six novellas total), which you can see here.
They have generally good covers. Their distribution seems to be primarily through their own eBookstore in the UK, and on Amazon elsewhere.
For this call they are open to a variety of subgenres including steampunk, slipstream, weird, gothic and “any other slippery genres you like, but categorically no full-blown horror”. They will not consider novels in verse or poetry of any kind, even if it is genre poetry.
They are open to considering manuscripts that are between 18,000 and 38,000 words. They do not allow any kind of AI use as part of the writing. They stress “We are a diverse (and trans-owned) publisher and we want to hear from new voices – please don’t self reject!”
They ask that all submittters follow Standard Manuscript Format and they ask for contact details to be on the manuscript as well as in the submission form. You can query about the status of your manuscript if you haven’t heard from them in three months but they say “generally speaking the longer we have your story the more we like it!” All submissions are made via Submittable.
