Borrowed Solace: Now Seeking Submissions

Borrowed Solace is a new online magazine of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, photography, and artwork. Created by a group of writers who are also literary enthusiasts, Borrowed Solace hopes to publish artful work that inspires readers to fall in love with language. They want stories, essays, and poems that invite readers to ask for more. They accept work in all genres and styles, but prefer pieces without excessive violence or erotica, unless it has a purpose.

Right now, Borrowed Solace is accepting work for their next issue the theme of which is home. I could not see when they close to submissions.

Poets may submit up to four poems, unless one poem is exceptionally long. In that case, one to two poems would be appropriate. Borrowed Solace does not accept prose poetry, unless it is submitted as flash fiction or narrative nonfiction. Nonfiction authors may submit one work of creative nonfiction—memoir, literary journalism, narrative nonfiction, etc.—or up to three flash pieces, totaling 30 pages or fewer. Fiction authors may submit one short story or up to three pieces of flash fiction, 30 pages or fewer. They are open to genre fiction, as long as excellent plot and character development take the story beyond categorization.

Borrowed Solace accepts submissions online, but not via post or email. They accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that authors immediately withdraw work published elsewhere.

They do not pay contributors but they do send out free contributor copies post publication.

If you would like to learn more or submit to Borrowed Solace, please visit their website at https://borrowedsolace.com/submission-guidelines/.
