The Brooklyn Review: Now Seeking Submissions

UPDATED: They are currently closed to submissions. I apologize for the inconvenience.

From Brooklyn College of The City University of New York—where John Ashbery and Allen Ginsberg once taught—The Brooklyn Review has offered almost 30 years of exceptional poetry, fiction, and performance texts. They’ve published work by literary cornerstones such as Ann Lauterbach, Wayne Koestenbaum, Mac Wellman, Lisa Ko, and Young Jean Lee, and others. The journal is edited by the college’s MFA students.

The Brooklyn Review is published once a year in print, and content is published periodically online as well. They accept submissions on a rolling basis. All submissions are considered for both print and online publication. The best way to get a sense of their style is to read the journal online.

Authors of fiction may submit stories up to 7,000 words. Poets may submit 3 to 5 poems. The Brooklyn Review also accepts performance texts up to 5,000 words, as well as experimental work up to 5,000 words. Experimental pieces may fall somewhere outside or in-between categories. They do not accept genre work.

The Brooklyn Review accepts submissions online, but not via email or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions. They do not accept previously published work.

If you would like to learn more or submit to The Brooklyn Review, please visit their website at http://www.bkreview.org/submit/.
