Announcing the Third and Fourth Recipients of the Authors Publish Fund for Literary Journals

Starting in September, Authors Publish has been contributing to a different literary journal each month through our new fund, about which you can learn more here.

Recipients of the funding are selected using a random number generator.

Because the holiday season is altering our schedule a little, we are announcing two recipients of $150 (US) dollars today.

The third recipient is The Collidescope. Their goal is to “publish writing that is subversive in nature, that is art for art’s sake.”

They are currently open to submissions of “fiction, poetry, personal and critical essays, reviews, interviews, novel excerpts, and the unclassifiable.”

The fourth recipient is Star*Line, the print journal of the SFPA (Science Fiction Poetry Association), which was established in 1978.

According to their website, “It is a venue for speculative (including science-fiction, fantasy, and horror) poets and poetry enthusiasts, and features interviews, articles, reviews, member news and letters, association business, and poetry—by members and nonmembers. “

They pay all contributors and accept submissions year round.

Thank you to everyone who has applied to the fund. Journals who have already submitted themselves for consideration will be considered in future draws as well. There is no need to resubmit.

There are currently only 8 literary journals on the list, so if you run a journal that needs funding, don’t hesitate to apply. If you know of a journal that needs funding, please encourage the editor(s) to apply for the funding.

We will select our fifth recipient in January.

Enchant is the Romantasy focused imprint of Entwined Publishing, which we have reviewed here. For those unfamiliar with the term, Romantasy is a very popular genre currently, which is focused on a blend of Romance and Fantasy. At my local big box bookstore, Romantasy is currently dominating the fantasy genre by a large margin. They…
