Asimov’s Science Fiction

Asimov’s Science Fiction is one of the most established and respected publishers of science fiction. They pay their writers and are currently open to submissions of fiction and poetry. Stories that Asimov’s published in the past have won 54 Hugos and 25 Nebula awards. The editors of Asimov’s have won 20 Hugo awards for Best Editor.S2

They pride themselves in publishing a large number of authors whose work had never previously been published. However they have also published many famous science fiction writers.

Asimov’s Science Fiction has a print and digital editions and is available in most major bookstores. Issac Asimov was the editorial director from 1977 to 1992.

The Editor’s are interested in fiction between 1,000 and 20,o00 words in length. They pay 8-10 cents per word for short stories up to 7,500 words, and 8-8.5 cents per word for longer material.

They are most interested in publishing character driven science fiction. They are open to accepting work with some fantasy elements but it still has to be primary science fiction. They are not interested in stories that or overly violent or sexual.

Asimov’s Science Fiction pays 1 dollar per line of poetry. They are interested in poems up to 40 lines in length.

They now accept submissions via their online submission manager or the post. They have very clear submission and manuscript formatting guidelines that you can read here. Make sure you read these guidelines before submitting.
