Nightingale & Sparrow: Now Seeking Submissions

Nightingale & Sparrow is a print and online journal publishing writing that “takes the earthly and makes it ethereal.” They’re looking poetry and prose that soars. Each themed issue is available online, so you can get a sense of their style by reading past publications.

Right now through September 15, Nightingale & Sparrow is seeking gothic-themed writing for their “Nevermore” themed edition. They’re looking for goosebumps and bad dreams, foggy streets and stormy evenings.

Poets may submit up to three poems of any length. Nightingale & Sparrow also publishes micropoems. Authors of fiction or creative nonfiction may submit up to twelve pages of prose. Submitting authors can expect a response within about two weeks following the submissions deadline.

Nightingale & Sparrow reads submissions blind, so they’re a great venue for unpublished authors. Submitting authors should take care not to include any identifying information on their work.

Nightingale & Sparrow accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. The accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors immediately withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.
