Pocket Fiction is a new online publisher of short fiction and poetry. They offer stories that can be read during coffee breaks, commutes, and other everyday happenings, stories that can be finished in five to twenty minutes. They publish both literary and mainstream writing by authors from around the world, and they aim to reach a broad audience.
Pocket Fiction also produces a podcast where writing from the journal is read aloud. Podcast episodes are under 20 minutes, perfect for a short daily break. All writing published in the online journal is considered for audio production, unless the author requests otherwise.
Pocket Fiction has been around since 2021, and so far they’ve produced five podcast episodes and published around fifty pieces of writing. You can get a sense of what they publish by reading the journal online, or by listening to the podcast for free on Spotify. Pocket Fiction is produced in the United Kingdom.
Authors of fiction may submit short stories, 100 to 5,000 words. They’re looking for engaging stories that can be read in 20 minutes or less. They feature a wide range of genres: fantasy, historical fiction, horror, humor, literary fiction, magical realism, musical fiction, religious fiction, romance, satire, science fiction, and weird tales.
Pocket Fiction also accepts poetry, and they’re looking forward to producing a special poetry edition of their podcast.
Pocket Fiction accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They only accept submissions that follow the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
