Popshot Quarterly is an established and respected publisher of new voices in poetry and fiction. Their vividly colored and beautifully designed journal features writing alongside artwork from some of today’s best illustrators. The journal is attractive and engaging, and its appeals to a broad range of contemporary readers is evidenced by its distribution in over 18 countries worldwide.
Since launching in 2008, Popshot has received accolades from numerous news outlets like The Observer, Huffington Post, and The Independent. UK’s pop culture magazine Dazed and Confused says that Popshot is, “a who isn’t yet who of contemporary literature,” and The List says, “Popshot looks for the best and finds it.”
Popshot is published four times a year in print, and as a downloadable digital edition. Each issue of Popshot contains writing from around 25 contributors alongside illustrations from around 25 artists. To get a sense of what they publish, you can read a sample of the magazine here.
Now through March 3, Popshot is seeking submissions for their upcoming issue, themed “Solar.” All submissions must respond to this theme.
Popshot accepts poems, 12 to 40 lines each; short stories, 1,000 to 3,000 words; and flashes, 100 to 1,000 words. Authors in all genres may submit up to three pieces of writing. Submissions will close at 9 AM UK time on March 3. Submitting authors can expect a response by the end of April.
Popshot may not respond to all submissions. Authors who do not hear back by the end of April should assume their submission has been rejected.
Popshot accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept and encourage simultaneous submissions, and they accept previously published writing as long as the author holds the rights to republish.
