The Meadowlark Review is a new online journal of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry published by the MFA students at the University of Wyoming. Based in the American West, The Meadowlark Review is inspired by that landscape and culture. But they especially love writing that challenges the expected Western narrative, and they also enjoy writing that’s not at all related to Western themes. They’re especially excited by pieces that push the boundaries of literature as an art form. To get a sense of what they like, you can read The Meadowlark Review online.
The Meadowlark Review published their first issue this spring, featuring work from 11 contributors. They publish a wide range of writing by both emerging and established authors from around the world.
Right now through August 15, The Meadowlark Review is open to submissions for their next issue. Authors of fiction and nonfiction may submit between 10 and 5,000 words. Authors may submit multiple prose pieces as long as the total word count is 5,000 words or fewer. The Meadowlark Review also accepts poetry. No guidelines are given for the number of poems accepted.
The Meadowlark Review accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work.
The Meadowlark Review only accepts submissions that adhere to the guidelines they’ve posted online. Please read these guidelines in full before submitting.
