The Paper Street Journal: Now Seeking Submissions

The Paper Street Journal is an online literary magazine featuring a curated selection of poetry, short fiction, creative prose, essays, reviews, notes, photo essays, art, photography, and music. Founded in 2014 by three graduates of McMaster University, The Paper Street Journal has since become a publication of international acclaim. They publish a vast array of work in a wide variety of forms and aesthetics for a broad international audience. At the same time, they maintain a strong community presence, both locally in their Ontario home base, as well as around the world via social media.

The Paper Street Journal is published once a year online. They accept submissions on a rolling basis, so submitting authors can anticipate that their work, if accepted, will appear in the magazine within a twelve month window. Interested authors can get a sense of what they’re looking for by reading their digital magazine, which is crafted with the look and feel of a high-quality print publication.

Authors of short fiction and creative prose may submit works of any length. Accepted word count will depend on the limitations of space and formatting in the specific issue of the journal. Serialized works are accepted as a complete piece in a single submission. Pieces may be accompanied by an original image. All topics, genres, and forms are accepted.

Poets may submit poems of 500 lines or fewer, and may accompany submissions with an image. Nonfiction authors may submit essays, reviews, notes, or photo essays, 3,000 words or fewer. Submissions may be accompanied by an image, and should employ proper MLA formatting.

Authors in all genres may send a short bio, 50 words or fewer, along with their submission. A formal cover letter is not necessary. Due to the volume of submissions they receive, The Paper Street Journal does not reply to every submission. If they are interested in publishing a piece, they will respond in a timely manner.

The Paper Street Journal accepts submission via email, not online or by post. They do not accept previously published work.
