Skylight Press: Now Accepting Manuscript Submissions

Skylight Press is a small, UK-based publisher. They publish 12 books every year. They publish serious esoteric and occult books (focusing on things like paganism, and Arthurian/Grail traditions), as well as literary fiction, and non-fiction with a history or horticultural focus. They also consider literary analysis, although they do not publish much of it. They publish poetry but are currently not open to poetry submissions.

This is a small press. They have UK, US, and Australian distribution, but they don’t say through who. They also list the specific bookshops that carry their books in London. They have also been around for a while, which is a good sign. Their covers are generally well designed.

The website is easy to navigate and focused on recruiting readers not writers, which is also a good sign. Unfortunately they don’t have a general catalog page and you have to browse books by category. It is worthwhile to spend some time reviewing what they have already published before submitting to them.

They strongly prefer emailed submissions. Fiction should be between 40,000 and 90,000 words.  Skylight Press does work with agents, but primarily their authors are un-agented.

They have very detailed submission guidelines that you should read and follow before submitting. To learn more or to submit, go here.
