Dreamsphere Books

Dreamsphere Books publishes fantasy, science fiction, horror, thriller, and mystery books. They focus on publishing genre work, but are not interested in YA romance or adult romance as other imprints, Deep Hearts YA and Deep Desire focus on these genres. Dreamsphere is an imprint of Story Perfect Books which you can learn more about here. It’s a small, family-run company based in Canada, and one of the editors does self-publish his work through one of the imprints. You can learn more about the Dreamsphere here, including the staff.

They appear to have started publishing books under this imprint in 2024. The covers are a bit hit and miss but they are mostly pretty good, and genre-appropriate.

Dreamsphere relies heavily on author self-promotion and social media, and they emphasize including relevant links in your query letter.

They ask for ebook, print, and audio rights from the author. They say “We decide on publishing in audio on a case-by-case basis”. Contracts are for three years from publication, and can be renewed annually after that.

They are mostly interested in new book length work (70,000-100,000 words in length), but are open to submissions of work that has been previously published if the author holds full rights to it. Please disclose this in your query.

“New Content: We are primarily looking for new works only. However, if your work has been previously published and you currently hold full rights, we will still consider it, but please let us know in your query.”

They share a list of desires and dislikes as part of their submission guidelines:

  • Want
    • Sci-fi and fantasy that breaks out of the genres’ conventions and bends the mind
    • Horror that makes us sleep with the lights on (preference for paranormal)
    • Thriller that gets us tearing through the pages
    • Westerns that make us love the genre all over again
    • Diverse representation in our lead characters is ideal
    • Spicy scenes are welcome
  • Don’t Want
    • Short stories or novellas

They ask that authors submit a query letter, synopsis, and the complete manuscript as an attachment. Additional details are disclosed on their submission page. Please read it carefully before submitting. All submissions must be made via email and cannot contain AI-assisted work.

Their current response time is three to eight weeks.
